Kim Na-Young

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop and validate the psychological empowerment scale for care service providers working at human service organizations. For this study, the scale development is achieved according to six stage procedures. The first stage is the procedure of ??the clarity of construct concept'. In this stage, the four sublevel of Spreitzer(1995)'s psychological empowerment - meaning, competence, self-determination and impact - are grounded as the psychological empowerment of care service providers. The second stage is the procedure of ??the generation of a large pool of items and the format for measurement'. The third stage is the procedure of ??the verification of content validity'. In this stage, total four events of focus group interviews are performed with the professional group and the care worker group. And, the survey on content validity is evaluated with professionals. In the fourth stage, ??the pilot test' is conducted to 10 care workers working at facilities and homes. In the fifth stage, the procedure for??main survey and the verification of validity', the survey is performed to 718 care workers employed at 22 long-term senior care centers located in Seoul and Gyeonggi area. And The final 687 members¡¯responses are used for the final analysis. Based on the survey result, the analyses of the sociodemographic characteristics, the items analysis, the verification of scale construct validity through confirmatory factor analysis, and the verification of convergent validity and distinction validity are conducted. Finally, the reliability coefficient of internal consistency is checked and the test-retest reliability is performed to verify the reliability of developed scale. The developed scale has the theocratical implications such as that views and opinions of care service providers are actively reflected through the brainstorming and FGI, the scale is developed that reflects work situations and conditions of care service providers while each of the four sub-dimensions suggested by Spreitzer(1995) is maintained and the total score and each factor's score are available to use since model adequacies of all models are stably secured.
